Ténor français, arrivant de l’Ile de beauté. Il doit sans doute à ses origines corses, le timbre éclatant qui le caractérise. Elève de Renée Doria, il prendra plus tard les conseils de Carlo Bergonzi. Son répertoire comprend les grands rôles de ténor Italien et Français. Le Duc de Mantoue, Mario, Pinkerton, Alfredo, Edgardo, Faust, Werther, Nadir… Ténor d’opéra, sa voix facile lui permet de se plier aux exigences du répertoire religieux : Requiem de Verdi, Stabat Mater.On le retrouve au festival de Zvolen pour des concerts Donizetti et Bellini.Il est affiché à Paris, Marseille, Miramas, Bergame, Sienne, Bologne, Parme, Bucarest…
Pour la plupart des amateurs de chant, Carlo Ciabrini sera probablement une révélation. Depuis plusieurs années, je connais les possibilités de ce ténor latin, à la fois corse et parisien. Je veux, à son propos, évoquer un sujet qui me tient à cœur : la technique vocale, trop négligée à notre époque. Très jeune, il a eu la chance, ou la lucidité, de confier sa formation vocale à une artiste dont il avait su discerner la maîtrise vocale et les dons pédagogiques. Il s’est perfectionné en Italie auprès de deux maîtres incontestables. Patiemment il a laissé mûrir et s’affermir son art. (Chez les Grecs anciens, un même mot « Tekné » désignait l’art et la technique). En conséquence, ce qui est avant tout admirable chez lui, c’est la parfaite registration de sa voix. Vertu rarissime de nos jours et cependant condition indispensable pour servir l’expression musicale, mais également pour une disponibilité, une efficacité permanente et durable. Puisse cet enregistrement donner, à son tour, matière à apprendre à tout amoureux de la voix.

The French tenor Carlo Ciabrini was born of the island of corsica, that has produced so many fine tenors including Cesar Vezzani, Gaston Micheletti and José Luccioni.
His singing combines the brilliant, open-throated timbre, incisive attack and easy top associated with Mediterranean tenors, with the clarity of diction and refined phrasing that traditionally characterised the French school of singing. For his teachers and mentors he went to the very best, that most stylish of French sopranos Renée Doria and the most elegant Italian tenor of his generation Carlo Bergonzi. His repertoire comprises the great tenor roles of the French and Italian repertoire and includes the Duke of Mantua, Mario, Pinkerton, Alfredo, Edgardo, Faust. Werther and Nadir. The ease of his upper register is well suited to the demands of such religious pieces as the Verdi Requiem and Rossini’s Stabat Mater. He has sung regularly at the Zvolen Festival in concerts of Donizetti and Bellini. He has appeared at Paris, Marseille, Miramas, Bergamo, Siena, Bologna, Parma and Bucarest.
At a time when the French repertoire languishes for lack of singers (especially tenors) with a command of the appropriate style, this remarkably talented singer ought to be in heavy demand throughout the world.
